App Management

Use this screen to install, update, open, and remove apps on the car.

WARNING: You are fully responsible for the apps that you install or remove. The developer is not liable for these apps.

Open the screen

  1. Open the MapControl app.
  2. Touch "App management" in the side menu. On the home panel, touch the "Apps" shortcut.
  3. The first time, a window shows "App management" and a notice about your responsibility. Touch "I accept" to continue.

Icons at the top of the screen

Server mode and Local mode

The mode button shows the mode that is active. Touch the button to switch to the other mode.

In Local mode, the list does not show system apps or Map Control.

Switch the mode

  1. Find the mode button at the top of the screen. It shows "Server" or "Local".
  2. Touch the button.
  3. The list changes. The button text changes.

If the server is not available, the screen shows "Cannot reach server. Refreshing automatically…". The app tries again when the network is back.

Install an app (Server mode)

  1. Make sure that Wi-Fi is on and connected. See Wi-Fi screen.
  2. Set the mode to "Server".
  3. Find the app. The status shows "Not installed".
  4. Touch "INSTALL".
  5. Wait. The screen shows "Downloading…" and then "Installing…".
  6. When the message "App installed!" shows, the app is ready. The button changes to "OPEN".

Update an app

  1. Set the mode to "Server".
  2. If a new version is available, the button shows "UPDATE".
  3. Touch "UPDATE". Wait for the install to finish.

Open an app

  1. Find the app in the list. The status shows "Installed • v" and the version.
  2. Touch "OPEN".

Remove an app

  1. Find the app in the list.
  2. Touch "REMOVE".
  3. Touch "Yes" in the window "Remove app".
  4. If a system window opens, confirm the removal.

Map Control shows "LOCKED". You cannot remove it in this list.

Remove all apps at one time (Delete all)

  1. Touch the three dots (⋮).
  2. Touch "Delete all".
  3. Touch "Delete" to confirm.
  4. In the window "Reset option", select one option:
    • Remove installed apps: removes all apps that you installed. Map Control stays.
    • Remove installed apps and this app: removes all apps that you installed and Map Control.
    • Cancel: does nothing.
  5. Read the window "Confirm reset". It shows the number of apps that the app removes. It also removes the linked APK files in /data/local/tmp.
  6. Confirm. The system can ask you to confirm one time for each app.
WARNING: If you select "Remove installed apps and this app", you must install Map Control again to use it.

Downloaded files

  1. Touch the folder icon.
  2. The window shows the number of files and the total size. It also shows the Downloads folder and the Cache folder.
  3. For each file, you can see the size. Touch "Install" to install an APK file. Touch "Delete" to delete the file.
  4. Touch "Delete all" to delete all downloaded files.

Install your own APK file

  1. Start the web server.
  2. Upload the APK file in the "Files" section of the web page.
  3. On the car, touch the folder icon.
  4. Touch "Install" next to the APK file.

You can also touch "Install" for the file in the "Uploaded files" list on the web page.
