Projection

Projection sends the screen of an app (for example a map app) to the instrument cluster in front of the driver. Use the Projection screen to control it.

Open the screen

  1. Open the MapControl app.
  2. Touch "Projection" in the side menu. On the home panel, touch the "Projection" shortcut.

Start projection for the first time

  1. Touch "Change" in the "App" section.
  2. Select the app in the list. The list shows the installed apps. The app name shows next to "Selected:".
  3. Touch "Project".
  4. The status changes from "Projection off" to "Projection on". The app shows "Projecting…" while it works.

NOTE: If the app shows "Overlay permission required", give the overlay permission. The installer gives this permission.

If you did not select an app, the app shows "Select an app first!".

Stop projection

  1. Touch "Stop".
  2. The app shows "Stopping…". Then the status shows "Projection off".

You can also use the buttons on the Floating Back Button bar: Map to start and X to stop.

Bring the app to the main screen

  1. Select the app.
  2. Touch "Bring to main screen".
  3. The app opens on the main multimedia screen.

Navigation behavior

Start: when does projection start?

OptionMeaning
EngineProjection starts when the engine starts.
ReadyProjection starts after one Engine Start press without the brake.
ManualProjection starts only when you touch "Project".

Google Maps notification

Requirements: notification access for MapControl, and Google Maps as the target app. If notification access is off, the app shows "Enable notification access for MapControl first".

When guidance stops, projection does not close.

Google Maps → Cluster cards

Cluster cards need notification access.
