Split Screen
Split Screen opens two apps at the same time. On a landscape screen the apps sit side by side. On a portrait screen one sits above the other. The screen is split into two windows at the ratio you choose.
Open the screen
- Open the MapControl app.
- In the side menu, touch "Split Screen".
- The first time, an early access notice appears. Touch "I accept" to continue. The notice is asked once.
Read the status line.

| Free-form windows are off. They will be turned on when you start. | "Split and open" turns free-form windows on itself. |
| This vehicle does not allow free-form windows. | Split Screen cannot start on this car. |
Open two apps
- On the "App 1" row, touch "Select app…". Choose an app from the list.
- Choose a different app for "App 2". The same app cannot be on both rows.
- Choose "Window ratio".
- Touch "Split and open".

If it works, the screen says "Split Screen started".
NOTE: MapControl is not the device owner. If an app is already open, it may not take the new size. Close that app first, then touch "Split and open".
Quick split gesture
If you choose a swipe, that swipe on the vehicle screen opens the saved pair at the chosen ratio.
- Choose both apps and the ratio first. The gesture opens the saved pair.
- Under "Quick split gesture", touch one gesture. The rows are 2 fingers, 3 fingers, and 4 fingers. The directions are Up, Down, Left, and Right.
- The chosen gesture appears on the "Selected" line. The screen tells you how many fingers to use and which way to swipe.
- Touch the vehicle screen with that many fingers at the same time. Keep the fingers together and swipe in the chosen direction. The vehicle system detects the swipe.
To turn the gesture off, touch "Turn gesture off".
NOTE: If map swipe already uses the same gesture, Split Screen cannot select it. The screen says "Map swipe already uses this gesture." Turn that gesture off on the Projection screen first.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |

| Please select both apps first | Fill in both the App 1 row and the App 2 row. |
| Choose two different apps | Do not put the same app on both rows. |
| Free-form windows are not allowed | This car does not support Split Screen. |
| An open app does not change size | Close the open app. Touch "Split and open" again. |
| One of the apps could not be opened | Make sure the app is installed. Choose another app. |
| The gesture does nothing | Make the gesture on the vehicle screen. The finger count and the direction must match the selected gesture. If map swipe uses the same gesture, turn it off. |
